Maurice Jones-Drew injury: Jaguars RB cleared for camp

Maurice Jones-Drew is cleared and ready to join his team for training camp, according to Jaguars head coach Gus Bradley, although he said the team will be careful and try to bring along the three-time Pro Bowl running back slowly.

"I'm the same guy," Jones-Drew told the media on Tuesday. "I've been training the same way, like I wasn't hurt."

Jones-Drew, 28, suffered a Lisfranc injury in October 2012 during a Week 7 game against the Oakland Raiders and missed the remainder of the season, although he didn't go to injured reserve right away. He didn't have surgery right away either, ultimately delaying the process of getting Jones-Drew back on the field.

Despite playing in just six games in 2012 and starting in just five, Jones-Drew was still the team's leading rusher for a fifth consecutive season, finishing with 414 yards rushing and a touchdown. In the season prior, Jones-Drew led the NFL in rushing with 1,606 yards and eight touchdowns.

Jones-Drew is entering the final year of a five-year contract signed in April 2009.
