Jaguars claim Ray Polk on waivers

Ron Chenoy-US PRESSWIRE

The Jacksonville Jaguars have been churning players in and out of their roster and will continue to do so likely throughout the season. The team announced on Wednesday afternoon that they had claimed Ray Polk off waivers, who was waived by the Seattle Seahawks on Tuesday. It's the first of what will probably many bodies brought over from the Seahawks.

The 6'1, 219-pound safety was originally recruited as a running back, but played safety for Colorado totaling 237 tackles (153 solo), three tackles for loss and one interception. He's known for his speed and big hitting ability, but missed the final five games of the 2012 season with an injured ankle.

The Jaguars were at 89 players before the signing, so there is no need for the team to release a player to make room.
