Jacksonville Jaguars running back Maurice Jones-Drew could see his first game action of the 2013 NFL preseason on Saturday against the New York Jets. Jones-Drew has been practicing in full for the past two weeks, but the Jaguars decided to hold him out against the Miami Dolphins on Friday night as a precaution.
Depending on how the week goes, he could play on Saturday however.
"We’ll see how this week goes," Jaguars head coach Gus Bradley said on Saturday. "We’re really just checking. I know he really wanted to go this past weekend and we’ll reevaluate as the week goes."
Jones-Drew is coming back from a Lisfranc injury that sidelined him for the final 10 games of the 2012 season, which also robbed the Jaguars of a big chunk of their offense.
It's not really all that important Jones-Drew plays in the preseason, but giving him a few snaps to get some "game hits" might be a good idea.
