The Jacksonville Jaguars head to New York on Saturday to take on the New York Jets and there are some interesting story lines to pay attention to leading up to the game.
First and foremost the Jaguars may be getting back both wide receiver Justin Blackmon and Jonathan Cyprien at practice on Monday, meaning they should be available for the game on Saturday. Cyprien should be a big boost to the defensive secondary that saw Chris Prosinski picked on against the Miami Dolphins.
The Jaguars will also be facing rookie quarterback Geno Smith, who was linked to the Jaguars quite a bit in the pre-draft process, but the only question is when will the Jaguars see him. There is some thought that Smith could start the game on Saturday, but he injured his ankle in the first preseason game and he could still be the second guy in the game. Most of the Jets beat writers feel Smith has been the better quarterback, however.
Not only will the Jaguars likely be getting back Blackmon and Cyprien, but it also appears that Justin Forsett will be returning to practice and it's possible both he and Maurice Jones-Drew could play as well on Saturday.
The biggest thing to watch however is how the Jaguars quarterback situation goes. I would expect the week of practice will go like it did last week, with Blaine Gabbert and Chad Henne splitting first team reps with the coaching staff deciding on Friday who starts. I kind of expect Chad Henne to start this week, with the coaching staff allowing both quarterbacks two preseason starts before deciding on Week 3 of the preseason, which will likely be the opening day starter.
