Justin Blackmon activated by Jacksonville Jaguars - NFL.com
Just three days after being escorted off a football field, Justin Blackmon can put on his uniform and start playing the sport again. The Jacksonville Jaguars announced Monday that wide receiver Blackmon (groin) and rookie safety Johnathan Cyprien (hamstring) both were cleared for practice and placed on the active roster. Blackmon started training camp on the active/physically unable to perform list after groin surgery during the offseason. The receiver also has been suspended the first four games of the season for violating the NFL's substance-abuse policy.
Jaguars better put a rush on improving offense | jacksonville.com
Seventeen days into Jaguars’ training camp, the biggest concern for Gus Bradley, even if he won’t say it publicly, has to be the lack of progress with an offense that is unable to find any kind of sustained rhythm. In the first full practice Monday since the preseason opening debacle against the Miami Dolphins, quarterbacks Blaine Gabbert and Chad Henne continued a pattern of maddening inconsistency. Neither was able to get into much of a groove, except for a two-minute drill at the close of practice that Henne ended with a touchdown pass to Justin Blackmon against the second-team defense.
Inside the Jaguars: Fisch fine with QB battle
Jedd Fisch didn’t sound worried. And he certainly didn’t sound on Monday like someone in a rush to make one of the biggest decisions facing a franchise, either. Fisch, in his first year as the Jaguars’ offensive coordinator, said while public consensus is there hasn’t been much to separate Blaine Gabbert and Chad Henne in the competition for the starting quarterback position, that’s not necessarily a bad thing at this point.
