Jaguars sign Andy Studebaker

The Jaguars have signed free agent veteran linebacker Andy Studebaker, according to his Twitter account.

The Jacksonville Jaguars have signed veteran free agent linebacker Andy Studebaker, according to his feed on Twitter. The Jaguars are trying to figure out their depth at the linebacker position, so Studebaker has a legitimate chance to make the final roster.

 Chiefs fans really liked Andy Studebaker. I'm not saying they're upset he wasn't brought back under the Andy Reid regime but he was a good guy and fans liked him. He was one of a few Chiefs players who would always be interviewed by reporters after the game because we valued his insight, so you can expect that if he does make the team. He's a special teamer and if he makes the Jaguars 53-man roster that is where you will see his impact. I don't know what your linebacker situation is but he can also act as a reserve on the outside, fulfilling a depth role. Not the flashiest player by any means but someone whose effort was always respected.

Studebaker, 27, is a 6'3 245-pound outside linebacker who last played for the Kansas City Chiefs. He entered the NFL as a sixth-round pick of the Philadelphia Eagles in the 2008 NFL Draft, but was signed off their practice squad by the Chiefs, playing outside linebacker in their 3-4 defense. He was also a core special teams player.

I'm not sure if the Jaguars intend to play Studebaker as an outside linebacker in their defense or as another hat in the LEO competition.

To make room for Studebaker on the roster the Jaguars released kicker Adam Yates.
