Jets will start Mark Sanchez vs. Jaguars

The New York Jets will be starting veteran Mark Sanchez against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

The Jacksonville Jaguars will be facing quarterback Mark Sanchez to start the game against the New York Jets, the Jets announced via the team's Twitter account on Thursday morning.

Like the Jaguars, the Jets have a bit of a quarterback competition going on after drafting Geno Smith in the second-round of the 2013 NFL Draft. Smith had been making progress in training camp and according to multiple reports by reporters on hand, was nipping at the heels of Sanchez.

Smith turned his ankle in the Jets first preseason game against the Detroit Lions however, so he's been practicing all week on a bad ankle and it's affected his play. It's still up in the air if Smith will play on Saturday, but if he does expect him to be the second quarterback in the game for the Jets.
