Mohamed Massaquoi, Jason Spitz cut by Jaguars, per report

The Jaguars have released the veteran wide receiver and offensive lineman, according to reports.

The Jacksonville Jaguars have released wide receiver Mohamed Massaquoi and Jason Spitz on Monday, according to Aaron Wilson of The National Football Post. The timing of a release is more of a surprise than the actual release of the player himself.

Massaquoi was signed in the offseason and thought the be a fill-in for Justin Blackmon while he served his four-game suspension at the beginning of the year, but the veteran wide receiver failed to impress during training camp or the preseason.

Spitz on the other hand had been up and down in the rotation for the Jaguars at all three interior positions on the offensive line, but his play apparently wasn't up to par and he's finally been released after spending two seasons on injured reserve.
