The Jacksonville Jaguars got Blaine Gabbert in the starting lineup on Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts, a team before kickoff Gabbert was 3-1 against in his career, but his returns left more of the same on the field with the offense continuing to struggle to even get first downs.
Despite his poor play, head coach Gus Bradley is sticking with the 23-year old quarterback, as expected.
"I'm standing strong with Blaine,'' Bradley said after the Jaguars 37-3 loss, putting the team at 0-4 on the season.
When Gus Bradley named Gabbert the starting quarterback, he made it a point to say the decision was made with conviction and there would be growing pains. In reality, this season is about making sure Gabbert isn't "the guy" so that Dave Caldwell can try to pick "the guy" in the 2014 NFL Draft.
I'm pretty sure they know, but still that's what this season is about. There is no other viable alternative out there, and barring injury it's not likely there's going to be a change at the position (It's always possible when you're 0-12, but, still).
