The Jacksonville Jaguars are sitting at 0-4 on the season and look like the worst team in the NFL, but that doesn't mean they're in the lead for the No. 1 overall pick. If the season were to end right now, the Jaguars would pick No. 4 overall, behind the New York Giants, Pittsburgh Steelers, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Why?
Strength of schedule.
(Thanks to Sander over at Bucs Nation for doing the leg work here.)
Pick | Team | Win | Loss | SoS Win | SoS Loss |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
1 | NYG | 0 | 4 | 32 | 30 |
2 | PIT | 0 | 4 | 35 | 27 |
3 | TB | 0 | 4 | 34 | 25 |
4 | JAC | 0 | 4 | 40 | 24 |
5 | PHI | 1 | 3 | 27 | 36 |
6 | WSH | 1 | 3 | 28 | 35 |
7 | MIN | 1 | 3 | 29 | 32 |
8 | ATL | 1 | 3 | 30 | 28 |
9 | OAK | 1 | 3 | 34 | 30 |
10 | STL | 1 | 3 | 34 | 28 |
Now, compared to some of the other teams it certainly looks like the Jaguars are in the driver's seat for the No. 1 overall pick going forward, but as we've said in the past, if you're going to be bad... you better be really bad and ensure you get the top pick.
