The Jacksonville Jaguars haven't officially updated the status of the availability of starting quarterback Blaine Gabbert for Sunday's home opener against the Kansas City Chiefs, but he says it's still a touch and go situation.
"It's still a day-to-day thing," Gabbert told the Florida Times-Union. "I'm going to go out there and do a little more than I did on Monday and see how it feels. It feels better and better each day. It's just a funny deal to stay on top of it and manage it."
The Jaguars quarterback gripped and throw the football on Monday, but admitted it was still uncomfortable at that point. Gabbert went on to note that the thumb is important for a quarterback, as far as gripping the football.
We'll know more about the status of Gabbert's injury after practice today, as the real issue going forward is if Gabbert can take snaps from under center with his thumb injury.
