Eighteen yards of offense midway through the second quarter? A 19-point halftime deficit? A 26-point margin of defeat? This was the regular-season head-coaching debut of Bradley – the first regular-season game of a new era – a sun-splashed day on the banks of the St. Johns River, a day that promised the start of something new and became a 28-2 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in front of 59,416 at EverBank Field.

Maurice Jones-Drew and Cecil Shorts are supposed to be two of the Jaguars’ key playmakers this year.But in a 28-2 season-opening loss to the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday, both were non-factors.Jones-Drew, playing his first game in almost a year after being sidelined with a foot injury last October, managed only 45 yards in 15 carries.Shorts didn’t catch a pass the first three quarters and finished with three receptions for 40 yards.Despite the frustrating start, both players had the same message that the team can and will improve.

New season, same trouble for the Jacksonville Jaguars' pass rush. The Jaguars were unable to get much pressure on Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Alex Smith, who had and efficient day in completing 21 of 34 passes for 173 yards and two touchdowns. The Jaguars sacked him once, but hit him just four times. Four times in 34 dropbacks, and that includes once by safety John Cyprien on a blitz.
