Blaine Gabbert injury: Jaguars QB out vs. Raiders

The Jaguars have ruled Blaine Gabbert out of Sunday's game against the Raiders.

Rob Foldy-USA TODAY Sports

The Jacksonville Jaguars have ruled quarterback Blaine Gabbert out of Sunday's match up with the Oakland Raiders this week, after the quarterback suffered a laceration on his throwing hand which required 15 stitches.

Gabbert missed the final two preseason games of the 2013 NFL preseason after he suffered a hairline fracture in his thumb on his throwing hand, which led to some concern he might miss the Week 1 opening game against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Gabbert wound up starting however, and despite being woefully ineffective, his thumb wasn't believed to be any issue.

With Gabbert officially ruled out Sunday, that means that Chad Henne will be the starting quarterback.
