Jaguars will start Chad Henne against Raiders

The Jacksonville Jaguars announced on Monday afternoon that quarterback Blaine Gabbert has been ruled out of Sunday's game against the Oakland Raiders, due to a laceration he suffered on his throwing hand. When we saw how big the cut was on Gabbert's hand, which required 15 stitches, there was a lot of thought that he may not be able to play just due to the huge size of the cut.

Turns out, Jaguars head coach Gus Bradley has already ruled him out because the team is concerned with possible infection due to the loss of skin, etc. on his hand.

So, fast forward to Sunday and Chad Henne gets the start.

Henne was in a competition for the Jaguars starting quarterback job all offseason, so he should be familiar with the offense and the game plan shouldn't really change all that much. Henne ended up taking over for Gabbert last season after injury when he needed surgery on his non-throwing shoulder, oddly enough after playing the Oakland Raiders.

Against the Raiders last season, Henne completed nine out of 20 passes for 71 yards in the 26-23 overtime loss.

Henne finished the final six games last season as the Jaguars starting quarterback, going 1-5 in relief duty and throwing for just over 2,000 yards with 11 touchdowns and interceptions in a total of 10 games. Henne actually ended the season playing more snaps than Gabbert, as he came in relief for multiple games.
