2014 NFL Mock Draft: Texans pass on Teddy Bridgewater?

New, comments

In the latest NFL Mock Draft from Mocking The Draft, the Houston Texans opt to pass on quarterback.

The Jacksonville Jaguars can go a myriad of ways with the No. 3 overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft. The lynchpin however on who the Jaguars will likely take involves who the Houston Texans will draft with the No. 1 overall pick. In their latest mock draft, Dan Kadar at Mocking the Draft has the Texans taking Jadeveon Clowner No. 1 overall.

So, if Houston makes that move... where do the Jaguars go?

3. Jacksonville Jaguars: Teddy Bridgewater, QB, Louisville

If there happens to be a scenario where Bridgewater is still on the board when Jacksonville picks, he should be the choice. Bridgewater isn't at the level of someone like Andrew Luck, but no one is going to be. Across the board, Bridgewater can do everything well. He may not blow you away in any particular area, but he's not deficient either. He's a complete quarterback and NFL ready from a poise and football intelligence standpoint. He's a Day 1 starter a team can build around.

I agree with Kadar's assessment here. If Bridgewater is available at the No. 3 spot, I think the Jaguars sprint to the podium with his name on the card. Bridgewater will likely be a Day 1 starter for the Jaguars and has the makeup most teams look for in an NFL starter.
