Coming into last Sunday, the Jaguars were averaging just 12.3 points per game and although the offense was putting up some decent numbers, Jacksonville players were nothing more than bye week replacements.
Last week? Well, that wasn't the case.
While Blake Bortles had his worst day in his four-game career, players like Denard Robinson and Allen Robinson were at the top of their respective position groups in terms of points. And if you're looking for bye week replacements, or even WR3 and flex options, the Robinsons are where you need to look.
With Denard, you get the starter going forward. Even with Toby Gerhart participating in practice again, Denard will get marginally more touches and far more yards. His 127 yards and one touchdown on Sunday was better than Gerhart's 122 yards and one touchdown in five games this year. Denard's the better potential at yards, scores, and points.
Allen, however, has been the most consistent receiver the Jaguars have had all season. He leads the team in targets (53), receptions (34), and yards (371). Except for the season opener when he didn't see the field that much, he has had no less than four catches in any game. The Dolphins are also inconsistent in giving up big plays to receivers. They gave up 209 yards and a touchdown to Oakland Raiders receivers, but 57 yards and no scores last week to the Chicago Bears.
What gives me hope for Allen is how well the Jaguars offensive line is playing. They turned in their best performance last week and can carry that momentum into Sunday and open up the passing game for Blake Bortles & Co.
And with all that said, Denard is owned in just 5.8% of leagues while Allen is owned in just 1.7% of leagues. Pick them up, start one or both, and keep the other on your bench for a rainy day.
