Alan Ball injury: Jaguars likely without starting cornerback

The Jaguars defense has played well the last three weeks, but they could be without starting corner Alan Ball.

The Jacksonville Jaguars could be without starting cornerback Alan Ball this week, as he's dealing with a bicep injury and the team has all but officially ruled him out for Sunday's game against the Miami Dolphins.

"It’s highly unlikely," Jaguars head coach Gus Bradley said after practice on Thursday afternoon.

If Ball is out on Sunday, like most expect, that means that Dwayne Gratz will go back into the starting lineup with Demetrius McCray on the other side of the defense. Since Gratz was sidelined with a concussion and played off the bench, he's looked much more comfortable in coverage than the early part of the season.

With that being said, Ball is arguably one of the few defensive players that could make a real impact on the Jaguars defense if he's not on the field. He doesn't get a lot of attention, but he's been one of the Jaguars most consistent defensive players int he secondary all season long.
