Marc Trestman, Aaron Kromer Jaguars offensive coordinator targets

The Jacksonville Jaguars fired offensive coordinator Jedd Fisch on Tuesday afternoon, meaning they'll need to begin a search for a new play caller that can work with developing quarterback Blake Bortles and the young playmakers the Jaguars have on the roster.

Sources tell Big Cat Country that two names to keep an eye on in the search is former Chicago Bears head coach Marc Trestman and former OC Aaron Kromer. Both were fired from the Bears this season after a disappointing season, but offensively the Bears didn't really have huge issues. Trestman has also been mentioned as a candidate by Ryan O'Halloran of The Florida Times-Union.

Trestman is viewed as a "quarterback whisperer" around the league and even with the troubles with Bears quarterback Jay Cutler, if you look at his season it really wasn't that bad. Trestman called the plays for the Bears offense and had them humming in 2013, but it seemed to fall apart in 2014 when his trust in Jay Cutler waned.

Kromer on the other hand has a relationship with Gus Bradley, as they both worked together with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Kromer also spent time under Sean Payton with the New Orleans Saints and served as the team's interim head coach in 2012. Kromer has experience in the NFL coaching running backs, offensive line and focused on game planning past two seasons for the Bears where their offenses ranked 8th and 21st overall, respectively. Chicago also had a top 15 passing offense in both of those seasons.
