The 2014 NFL offseason, for all intents and purposes, is now officially underway after the conclusion of the 2014 NFL Combine. This means it's time to start gearing up for things like free agency and the 2014 NFL Draft.
Free agency: March 11
The NFL's free agency period officially begins on March 11, which is when current contracts expire and players are free to sign with any team in the NFL they wish. There is a pre-signing period, which begins on March 8 where teams can negotiate with and communicate with free agents, but no deals "can be agreed upon" during this time period.
Free agency will be interesting to watch for the Jacksonville Jaguars this season, as they're projected to have nearly $60 million in cap space they can spend if they so desire. I would expect the Jaguars go after a few higher priced free agents than they did this past offseason, but I wouldn't expect them to doll out massive first day contracts.
Draft: May 8-10
The most important thing for the Jaguars this offseason is the 2014 NFL Draft, where they hold the No. 3 overall pick. We're not exactly sure what the Jaguars will do with this pick, but we have a general guess at a handful of players and positions the team will be looking at.
Luckily, the Jaguars have double-digit draft picks heading into the NFL Draft this season, so they will be able to add another large chunk of young players who fit their scheme to the team.
