The Jacksonville Jaguars offered a contract to free agent Tight End Ed Dickson, according to Aaron Wilson of the Baltimore Sun.
Dickson is a 6 ft 4 inch Tight End who was drafted in the 3rd round of the 2010 NFL Draft; as a result, Dickson fits the mold of young players who are coming off their rookie deals and are now making their way to Jacksonville.
Although Dickson has spent his first few years in the NFL buried on the depth chart behind Todd Heap and most recently Dennis Pitta, Dickson still managed to have 25 receptions for 273 yards and 1 touchdown last season.
The Jaguars currently have Tight Ends Marcedes Lewis, recently re-signed Clay Harbor, and Brandon Barden on the the roster, so it will be interesting to see where Dickson would fit. It's possible that Dickson is seen as a core special teams player or simply camp depth. After seeing how an underwhelming Alan Ball preformed last season for the Jaguars, most fans wont question the lesser media praised moves by Jaguars' General Manager Dave Caldwell.
