Blake Bortles 'took over the room' in Jaguars meeting

When the Jaguars met with Blake Bortles for a private interview at the NFL Combine, he "took over the room" according to a report.

The Jacksonville Jaguars have had seven quarterbacks in for a private workout up to this point, according to our visit and pro day tracker. Some quarterbacks have even visiting EverBank Field twice, but one quarterback in particular reportedly had a very good meeting with the Jaguars at the NFL Combine and "took over the room."

UCF's Blake Bortles.

Bortles, who's had a climb from a surprise entry to the 2014 NFL Draft to potential number one overall pick, reportedly made a big impression on Jaguars head coach Gus Bradley.

Often mocked anywhere from the first overall pick to somewhere near the end of the Top 10, it seems apparent that Bortles is a shoe-in for the top half of the first round, if you put any weight in mock drafts.

While I personally have Bortles graded as a Day 2 pick, because he has a lot of work he needs to do, it wouldn't be shocking to see a team pull the trigger on picking him in the Top 10. He's got the "mold" of an NFL quarterback, what teams generally look for build-wise. He's got a good enough arm to make all the throws and has some functional mobility to keep plays alive and pick up first downs with his feet.

He's likely going to need to sit for a little while and work on some mechanical issues, but that plays right into the Jaguars hands, who've stated they prefer a rookie quarterback to sit early on, regardless.

I still don't think it's likely the Jaguars pick a quarterback in the first round, but it does appear if they do, Bortles is certainly in the mix.
