Draft Day is Finally Here

Waiting on the draft has been even more torturous this year for your Uncle. The extra two weeks were absolutely brutal.

No more.

Today is the day.

Now, earlier this week I posted that I want Johnny Manziel more than I want oxygen, and I do. However, deep in my heart of hearts, Im not sure whom the Jacksonville Jaguars will select.

And Im ok with with that.

The Jacksonville Jaguars are going to get better with any pick that they make tonight. The Jacksonville Jaguars will be closer to contention in the AFC South with whomever they pick tonight, but I really only want to hear two names called.

1. Johnny Manziel. - I like the idea of drafting Johnny Manziel because I really believe that he fits a run blocking scheme perfectly. I love the idea of teaming him with a power running back like Toby Gerhart. Last year we saw Chad Henne pick up a few first downs with a read option/ bootleg designed run. Johnny just might be a little better at that than Chad. Hard to say for sure, though.

2. Sammy Watkins. At the start of the "Draft Season," Sammy Watkins was my pick of choice. I wanted to go Quarterback in the 2nd round. I love the idea of Sammy Watkins because he is a true fast-twitch, strong, explosive wide receiver. I think Watkins is going to be an absolute star in the NFL.

"But Chaps, why dont you want Khalil Mack or Jadeveon Clowney?"

Well, I honestly dont believe that there is a chance in hell that Clowney is there at three. Just no way. I'd be thrilled if he was, but I am trying to be realistic here.

Now, Khalil Mack. I like Mack, and I would totally understand why the Jaguars would value a player like him. However, the defense is a MUCH stronger side of the ball for this team. Unless there is a truly transcendent talent (Clowney), I dont see the value for another defensive player on this team at the number three overall pick.

We need to score touchdowns. We kinda suck at scoring touchdowns. Touchdowns are juuuuust a little important.

We are now less than 12 hours away from the draft. Who do you hope the Jaguars select tonight?
