The selection of Blake Bortles surprised most and left critics divided.

SB Nation 2014 NFL Draft

Dave Caldwell targeted his quarterback of the future and wasted little time nabbing UCF quarterback Blake Bortles with the No. 3 overall selection. While the Jaguars were pegged as a team that would likely go after a passer early in the 2014 NFL Draft, it was still a surprising selection, as Johnny Manziel and Teddy Bridgewater absorbed the majority of the attention for first round quarterbacks paired with Jacksonville.

The surprising selection divided analysts, and while some experts absolutely loved the move by the Jaguars, it was far from unanimous.

On Friday morning, SB Nation's Louis Bien rounded up some grades from around the Internet, including those given to the Jaguars:

SB Nation: B
CBS Sports: C +
Sports Illustrated: B -
NFL.com: "Sorry, Charlie"
ESPN: Thumbs up

The Jaguars likely would have received better grades if they took a player that would have been expected to impact the team in 2014, but the decision to build for the future left some underwhelmed.
