The Jaguars didn't wait and hope Allen Robinson would fall to them, and they repeated the strategy again at the end of the third round, trading up from the fourth round to acquire a late third round pick and take Miami (FL) guard Brandon Linder with the No. 93 overall selection.
It was an interesting pick, as not many had Linder highly rated, despite the fact that he earned an invite to the NFL Combine. The 6'6, 311-pound guard also attended the 2014 Senior Bowl, but didn't appear on SB Nation's ranking of the top 200 players in the 2014 NFL Draft.
Even Linder was surprised by the selection, telling Jacksonville media on a Friday evening conference call that he "definitely didn't see it coming."
Surprising or not, he is a player that Jaguars offensive coordinator is familiar with from his time as the offensive coordinator at Miami. The aggressive move to acquire Linder in the second day would indicate that he will get a legitimate shot at the starting lineup in Jacksonville, as the team has gaping holes at center and right guard.
So what do you think of the pick, BCC?
