Jason Babin is now a former Jacksonville Jaguar once again. The Jaguars released Babin on Thursday, surprising some folks with the timing of the release.
Babin met with Caldwell/Bradley this morning at stadium to be informed of release. #Jaguars— Ryan O'Halloran (@ryanohalloran) June 19, 2014
The upside of being released now is that Babin now has time to catch on with another team. If the Jaguars had waited until a week before the regular season to do this, it would have been harder for Babin to contribute to another team. Still, the timing of this is odd.
Jason Babin release a bit of a head scratcher. Basically got $500k for an offseason. By many accounts, he was fitting in well/ working hard.— Mike Garafolo (@MikeGarafolo) June 19, 2014
Babin, 34, just re-signed with the Jaguars this offseason.
Jaguars had signed Jason Babin this offseason to incentive-laden three-year, $7.275 million deal that had $500,000 guaranteed— Aaron Wilson (@RavensInsider) June 19, 2014
Babin led the Jaguars in sacks last season with 7.5.
