Jason Babin is now a former Jacksonville Jaguar once again. The Jaguars released Babin on Thursday, surprising some folks with the timing of the release.

The upside of being released now is that Babin now has time to catch on with another team. If the Jaguars had waited until a week before the regular season to do this, it would have been harder for Babin to contribute to another team. Still, the timing of this is odd.

Babin, 34, just re-signed with the Jaguars this offseason.

Babin led the Jaguars in sacks last season with 7.5.
