In the 50 days leading up to the preseason opener between the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, we're counting down the 50 best plays of 2013.
Yesterday at No. 23 was Maurice Jones-Drew, now with the Oakland Raiders, getting his 10,000th career yard.
In at No. 22? Ace Sanders and his 51-yard catch-and-run, the longest of the year for the rookie out of South Carolina.
It may have turned out to be a defensive slugfest, but the Jaguars started off the game by marching down the field and getting a touchdown on their opening drive. This is the play that set up that touchdown, the only one of the game.
But it almost didn't happen. On third-and-four, offensive coordinator Jedd Fish called a play that almost looked like it should be run on the goal line. It's a perfectly designed play to confuse the opposing secondary, with the slot receiver faking the out route and instead running a slant.
Henne and Sanders timed it perfectly, with the ball being thrown before Sanders had fully gotten into his slant.
Should Sanders' 51-yard reception be higher on the list? Lower? Let us know in the comments below!
