Jaguars owner Shad Khan said he won't cut ties with Justin Blackmon

Although the Jaguars have every reason to distance themselves from troubled wide receiver Justin Blackmon, owner Shad Khan said he has no reason to cut ties with the former first round pick.

Phil Sears-US PRESSWIRE

Justin Blackmon was arrested Wednesday evening in Endmond, Oklahoma for possession of marijuana.

This, while being suspended indefinitely from the NFL for violating the league's substance abuse policy for a third time in just two seasons, makes it easy to justify wanting to release Blackmon and "completely disassociate" from him.

But Jaguars owner Shad Khan doesn't see it that way:

There have been varying reports, with some stating that Khan doesn't want to "cut" Blackmon, with others saying Khan doesn't want to "cut ties" with him. Could the Jaguars release Blackmon and still aid him in getting the help he needs? Sure. Could the Jaguars keep Blackmon with the team, thereby making it easier to walk with him towards recovery? Absolutely.

But, thankfully, whatever Khan meant to imply in his comments, it seems the team is committed to journeying with Blackmon for the foreseeable future.
