Chad Henne ranked 2nd best QB in AFC South, but 26th in NFL

In a recent poll with 26 anonymous league insiders, Chad Henne is rated as the second best starting quarterback in the AFC South, but that's not necessarily a good thing.

In a recent poll of 26 anonymous NFL "insiders", Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Chad Henne was rated as the second best starting quarterback in the AFC South. While that sounds all well and good, the bad news is when put up against the other 32 starting quarterbacks, he was ranked 26th overall.

Mike Sando of ESPN.com conducted a poll with NFL insiders and was able to split quarterbacks up into four tiers by ranking them on a scale of 1-to-5. Here is what they had to say about Henne:

26. Chad Henne, Jacksonville Jaguars (4.15 average rating)

Lots of people loved Henne -- as a backup. "He'll have one good game and then have trouble repeating it," one GM said.

The explainer graph about Henne is short, sweet and to the point. It's not a real shocker that Henne was rated in the bottom rung of NFL starters because up to this point in his career, that's what he is. He appears to be just a good solid backup quarterback, but as a full time starter isn't really going to give you much. I think the up-and-down quote for Henne is quite spot on.

Of the other AFC South quarterbacks, only Andrew Luck cracked tier 1 and was ranked fifth overall. Ryan Fitzpatrick and Jake Locker joined Henne in Tier 4 at  30th and 31st, respectively.
