The Madden video game franchise is a staple with most NFL fans, but recently Jacksonville Jaguars fans have made their displeasure of the accuracy of the game known. It's not necessarily that Jaguars fans are upset the team ratings aren't high, because most know the Jaguars right now aren't very good, but it's more to do with the details.
The Jaguars new uniforms are one of the biggest complaints, as last seasons version of the franchise featured half and half black and mustard yellow helmets, rather than the matte and gold that the team actually wears in real life.
Recently the Jaguars media manager went to Twitter to ask fans to provide him with inaccuracies in the game to relay to EA Sports and Jags fans responded in turn.
Glad to be back in Duval. 1 of my 626 emails in my inbox is in regards to Madden 15 correcting the #Jaguars inaccuracies. #HappyMonday

It wouldn't be the first time that Madden has been asked to change something in the game regarding the Jaguars, as in the 2011 rendition of the game it featured something called "dynamic attendance" which supposedly had the game replicate the attendance teams had in real life. That didn't go over well with Jaguars fans at all, because it was a few seasons after the season the team had nearly all of their games blacked out and just following the season where attendance surged.
"We incorporated accurate attendance for all the teams, and Jacksonville always had these terrible turnouts," a Madden producer told Sports Illustrated's Jon Robinson. "The Jags owner got all pissed off when he heard there were empty seats when you played as his team in the game. The team called the NFL and we had to fix it immediately."
I personally didn't purchase Madden 11, because to be honest the game hasn't been very good since it's been produced on the next-gen consoles, but the reasoning from one of the game's producers is that the Jaguars constantly had poor turnouts, despite averaging over 63,000 per game in the 2010 season and close to the same in 2011.
"There is a direct link between attendance and blackouts on TV, and the league recognized the fact that dynamic attendance was important in the context of franchise mode and a team not doing well," the Madden producer told Robinson. "Jags games don't ever sell out. We reflected that in the game, and were ultimately asked not to remove the dynamics, but also not have a half-empty stadium."
I could be wrong, but I don't recall the other cities who also had crap attendance have the same "feature" occur in their stadium.
Regardless, it's funny to see the new ownership of the Jaguars call people out and take then to task for their inaccuracies in what's billed as a "simulation" game. Hopefully this means the Jaguars uniforms and helmet coloring will look more like they actually do and that virtual EverBank Field will actually include the new massive scoreboards.
It's weird Madden got all these wrong so constantly since one of their studios is in Orlando, FL.
What are some of the inaccuracies have you noticed in the past few renditions of the game?
