The Jacksonville Jaguars have taken some hits at the wide receiver position, but those blows have been lessened by players like undrafted rookie wide receiver Allen Hurns. Hurns was someone a lot of people picked out as a sleeper to make the Jaguars roster and thus far through training camp in the preseason, he's a budding camp star.
Hurns led the Jaguars with four receptions for 74 yards on Friday night against the Chicago Bears, including a bit 45 yard gain.
With all the flux and injuries at the wide receiver position, it would appear at this point Hurns has played himself on the roster. He doesn't necessarily offer anything special in terms of skill-set, but he seems to be that receiver who can move the chains and catch contested catches.
Hurns seems to have a knack to get open, despite not having blazing speed, and runs his routes well. He's been able to carry over those performances from the practice field to at least the real field in the preseason.
