The Jacksonville Jaguars offense isn't going to get you a lot of fantasy football points in 2014, but there are a few players worth picking even if you're not a Jaguars fan and Toby Gerhart is one of them.
Gerhart's draft stock has slowly risen over the course of the preseason, and according to Dave Richard of CBS Sports, he's a better option than Ray Rice, C.J. Spiller, and Chris Johnson.
It's been a rough start for Gerhart as he's totaled 51 yards on 16 carries and an 8-yard catch through two preseason games, but he's a guy worth keeping faith in. Gerhart is easily Jacksonville's top back after auditions for Jordan Todman and Denard Robinson went nowhere. It might not be pretty -- we could see a lot of 17-carry, 60-yard days in our future -- but he should do enough catching passes and working the goal line to make up for it. I've referenced our research into Gerhart previously and still view him as a trustworthy No. 2 Fantasy running back.
For some reference, ESPN has projected that Spiller will be a 1,000-yard rusher with at least six touchdowns, Rice will get over 1,200 total yards and seven touchdowns despite his two-game suspension, and Johnson will only get about 800 rushing yards but pile on for eight touchdowns.
All four players are solid No. 2 fantasy running back options, but Gerhart wins out due to a slightly greater workload and the assumption that offensive coordinator Jedd Fisch will lean on him in goal line situations.
