NFL final cuts tracker 2014: Jaguars get down to 53 players

The Jaguars have to be down to 53 players by Saturday evening, follow all the cuts here.

The Jacksonville Jaguars will need to trim their roster from 75 to 53 by the end of the day on Saturday. This means the Jaguars will need to make 22 roster moves including cuts, any trades or placing players on injured reserve or the suspended list.

With the conclusion of the final preseason game on Thursday evening, the Jaguars will likely begin making their cuts to the roster after they've evaluated some of the film from the game against the Atlanta Falcons, which in truth was pretty ugly.

Personally I think this roster is pretty easy to cut, the only questions are do they go heavy on the offensive line with the injury to Austin Pasztor? Do they keep six wide receivers or did Ace Sanders show enough for you to be able to just put someone on punt returns to fair catch it until he's back from his four game suspension.

We'll keep track of all the cuts in this post, so use it also as an open thread to discuss the releases. If you see a cut we do not have listed, please add it to the comments with attribution.

Live Blog:

3:13 PM: The initial 53-man roster is out.

2:44 PM: Kerry Taylor is cut, meaning Mike Brown makes it another season.

2:28 PM: Prosinski lives!

----------

4:51 PM: The Jacksonville Jaguars made 18 roster moves today to reduce their roster to 57 players.

Injured reserve: WR Tandon Doss, CB Rashaad Reynolds

Waived: C Mike Brewster, G Drew Nowak, DE Gerald Rivers and QB Ricky Stanzi, WR Chad Bumphis, FB Eric Kettani, TE Brandon Barden (waived/injured), OT Cody Booth, DL DeAndre Coleman, DT Ricky Havili-Heimuli, S Craig Loston, QB Stephen Morris, K/P Kasey Redfern, G Tyler Shatley, TE D.J. Tialavea, LB Marcus Whitfield, DE David Carter (injury settlement).

"Competition is our central theme and all of these players competed on a daily basis," Jaguars general manager David Caldwell said. "This is always a tough day because you are letting go of men that played a vital role in what we are building here.   We will continue to compete to build the best roster possible as we head into the regular season."

4:28 PM: Not sure I've seen a player go from starter to cut as fast as Mike Brewster.

4:15 PM: It's official. The Jaguars hate freedom.

3:06 PM: And they start rolling out. Stephen Morris is cut.

2:54 PM: And the first cut is made.

12:56 PM: A few interior offensive linemen have been cut so far today, but undrafted rookie Josh Andrews out of Oregon State could be of interest to the Jaguars. He's a strong player and has some athleticism.

10:32 AM: While we wait for cuts, check out our prediction for the final Jaguars 53-man roster.

10:20 AM: Interesting. Lonnie Pryor was on our roster last year, but got scooped up by the Buccaneers. The only other conceivable practice squad candidate we have at running back is rookie Terrance Cobb. I'd rather have Lonnie Legend than Cobb.

8:18 AM: I wouldn't be shocked if the Jaguars released all their cuts in one swoop and on Friday.
