Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Gus Bradley informed reporters after practice on Wednesday that starting running back Toby Gerhart would not participate in the team's scrimmage against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Friday evening.
Gus Bradley says Toby Gerhart will not play in preseason opener because of hip flexor injury.

Gerhart has been out since the Jaguars scrimmage last Saturday and has been working on the side all week in practice dealing with leg soreness (aka a hip flexor). The injury is not to be considered something that will hamper Gerhart long term however and he should be available for the Jaguars next preseason game matchup.
The Jaguars signed Gerhart to a three-year contract in free agency, hoping that he will be at the form he was in college at Stanford when he was the runner up for the Heisman Trophy. Gerhart was buried behind Adrian Peterson when he was with the Minnesota Vikings, but figures to be the Jaguars bell cow once the regular season begins.
