It became clear early on in the preseason that Mike Brewster wasn't going to be the Jaguars opening day starter at the center position, and that was hammered home when he started to get third team reps at guard and then was subsequently released in final cuts.
McClendon and sixth-round pick Luke Bowanko began competing for the starting center position, with both doing an adequate job at center. For now though, Jaguars head coach Gus Bradley has opted to go with the experienced player at the position against the Eagles.
It's likely however, that if McClendon struggles for a few games that he could be replace by Bowanko. Bowanko showed out well in his time in the preseason.
