Marqise Lee and Toby Gerhart back at practice, Johnathan Cyprien and Cecil Shorts III held out

The Jaguars sustained some injuries in their season opener against the Eagles, and a few more in practice this week. Here's what the injury situation looks like ahead of their matchup with Washington.

The Jacksonville Jaguars lost more than just their regular season opener against the Philadelphia Eagles. Starting safety Johnathan Cyprien sustained a head injury and running back Toby Gerhart missed time during the game with an ankle injury. Cyprien suffered a concussion and as of yesterday had not passed the NFL's concussion protocol.

Gerhart hurt his ankle on a horse collar tackle on Sunday, which initially looked much worse than what it ended up being. He missed the better part of two series before coming back in the game, but the injury hampered his production.

Cornerback Dwayne Gratz and receiver Marqise Lee picked up injuries that didn't appear to be serious during Wednesday's practice, and coaches weren't definitive when talking about injured receiver Cecil Shorts III.

On Thursday, Lee and Gratz returned, but Cyprien and Shorts were held out once again. I'd be surprised if Cyprien made it through, what with the league's hard-line stance on concussion injuries, and it's disconcerting that Shorts missed another day.

Here's the injury report for this week for both Jacksonville and Washington.
