The Jacksonville Jaguars offense showed its best half of the season under rookie Blake Bortles in his first start against the San Diego Chargers, and that's including the season opener.
And the third down conversions are a big reason why.
Through six quarters under center, Bortles has been 11-for-13 for 169 yards and eight first downs. He only had two three-and-outs last week. Two. Combine that with a Pittsburgh Steelers defense coming to town that hasn't done well against opposing receivers and you've got some fantasy options on the Jaguars.
Start 'Em
QB Blake Bortles: He had 275 total yards and a touchdown on the road in his first start last week. Yes, he had two ugly interceptions that brought his point total down, but the Steelers struggle against the pass and Bortles is getting better every week.
Predicted stat line: 325 total yards, 2 touchdowns
WR Allen Robinson: He still leads the team in receptions and targets, and is only owned in 1.9% of leagues. Not only should you pick him up, but you should start him... especially if you need someone for your flex position. With Cecil Shorts III out for Week 5, Robinson will only be more valuable.
Predicted stat line: 7 catches, 70 yards, 1 touchdown
WR Allen Hurns: The Steelers defense has given up more than 200 yards in back-to-back weeks, and three touchdowns to opposing receivers in that time span. Bortles has found a wide open Hurns for two straight weeks, and if he hadn't fallen awkwardly against the Chargers they both would've been touchdowns. And like Robinson, with Shorts out he's going to get a boatload of targets. He's only owned in 7.3% of fantasy leagues. Grab him.
Predicted stat line: 5 catches, 90 yards, 1 touchdown
Sit 'Em
RB Toby Gerhart: Yes, he got a touchdown last week, but he's still only averaging 2.6 yards per carry and losing touches to Denard Robinson.
Predicted stat line: 55 total yards, 0 touchdown
WR Cecil Shorts III: This is just your friendly reminder that Shorts will be inactive against the Steelers. You're welcome.
Predicted stat line: 0 catches, 0 yards, 0 touchdowns
TE Clay Harbor: The Steelers were porous against tight ends in the first three weeks, but they seemed to have tightened up against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last week. Harbor will likely get you 3-5 points per week over the next few weeks, but you're better off grabbing someone like Jared Cook or Eric Ebron.
Predicted stat line: 45 total yards, 0 touchdowns
