The Jacksonville Jaguars have ruled veteran wide receiver Cecil Shorts III out of Sunday's game against the Philadelphia Eagles. While Shorts was listed as questionable for the game, it was a bit of a surprise for the team to declare him out 24 hours prior to kickoff.
Shorts was limited in practice on Wednesday with a hamstring issue but wen through the team walkthrough on Friday, however he sat out of actual practice. Shorts was planning to travel with the team and test out his hamstring on Sunday prior to the game, but it appears as though the team decided he wouldn't be ready to go in time.
With Shorts out, that leaves the Jaguars with three rookie receivers and Mike Brown as the rotation. Undrafted rookie Allen Hurns showed out in the preseason against all levels of depth, but he's still an undrafted rookie. It could be a tough day for Chad Henne against the Eagles, more so than before, with such inexperienced receiving options.
