Jacksonville ranks as most devoted NFL market in Florida

Nielsen Scarborough ranked every NFL market by the percentage of adults who have watched, listened to, or attended a game in the past 12 months. Jacksonville ranked above both Tampa Bay and Miami.

The Jacksonville Jaguars have earned less wins in 2014 than the Miami Dolphins have in the past two years, but they still rank above them and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in terms of fan devotion.

Nielsen Scarborough, a local and national market research firm, polled men and women from all 32 NFL markets and found that a greater percentage of people in Jacksonville had either watched, listened to, or attended a Jaguars game than their counterparts in Miami and Tampa Bay did, who both tied for 28th place at 42 percent.

According to the survey, Jacksonville ranks 21st with 54 percent of the market engaged with the team. That may not seem like much, but when you compare it with nationally popular franchises like the Dallas Cowboys (57 percent) and Chicago Bears (60 percent) it's not that bad.

Ranked at the top are, of course, the Green Bay Packers (84 percent), the New Orleans Saints (78 percent), and the Pittsburgh Steelers (76 percent). At the bottom are the New York Giants (38 percent), the New York Jets (31 percent), and the Oakland Raiders (29 percent).
