Shad Khan 'very optimistic' about Justin Blackmon returning

The Jaguars started three rookies in their top four receiver spots in 2014, but could get back a familiar face this year.

Since drafting Justin Blackmon with the No. 5 overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, the Jacksonville Jaguars have gotten just 20 games, 1,280 yards, and six touchdowns out of the Oklahoma State standout.

He was suspended during the 2013 season and missed all of last year, but towards the end of the season and into the offseason, we've heard increasing rumors that Blackmon could be back for 2015. The latest? Jaguars owner Shad Khan.

When asked if Blackmon could be reinstated with the team, Khan was very upbeat.

"Absolutely," Jaguars owner Shad Khan told Ryan O'Halloran of the Florida Times-Union. "As a matter of fact, I’m very optimistic. I think he’s paid his dues. I think he’s got his life together. I think he can be a role model for people who have gone through hard times. We’re waiting for him."

When he was suspended in 2013, he was arguably the team's best player on offense. While the receiving corps is better now than before he was suspended, he'd still do well for himself with Blake Bortles under center and guys like Marqise Lee and Allen Robinson to take pressure away from him.
