Jaguars to interview Greg Roman for OC position

A familiar name will interview for the Jaguars offensive coordinator position, according to a report.

The Jacksonville Jaguars will interview former San Francisco 49ers offensive coordinator Greg Roman later this week, according to Ryan O'Halloran of The Florida Times-Union.

Roman was rumored to be someone the Jaguars could be interested in previously, mostly because of his connection with Jaguars general manager Dave Caldwell. Roman, who was a teammate with Caldwell in college at John Carroll University, has been the offensive coordinator for the 49ers the past four seasons and has been credited with getting efficient play out of quarterback Alex Smith and Colin Kaepernick.

Though, those may not be as big of selling points as they were when Roman was rumored to be a head coaching candidate for the Jaguars.

The 49ers developed a smash mouth type of offense under Jim Harbaugh and Greg Roman, but at times it lacked the ability to put up points last season and Kaepernick seemed to regress as a passer.
