The Jacksonville Jaguars' bye week actually caused some people to lose their fantasy football matchups during Week 8. That's how far this team has come on offense. There are legitimate QB1, RB1, WR1, WR2 options on this team used week in and week out.
But one player who hasn't seen more than a handful of snaps so far is former second-round pick Marqise Lee.
Lee, a guy who can stretch the field with his speed and athleticism and who was believed to be the perfect complement to Allen Robinson and Allen Hurns, has played less than two full games this season. He has just six targets, three catches, and 40 yards. And he missed practice on Monday ahead of the team's Week 9 matchup against the New York Jets.
So, what does this mean for those of you who rely on Blake Bortles, Allen Robinson, and Allen Hurns in FanDuel matchups? Absolutely nothing... and that's a very good thing.
Bortles is still not a top-10 quarterback in terms of cost (only $7,700 this week) yet he's averaging 19.9 points per game, which is good for sixth in the NFL. Until FanDuel increases his price to be more in the $8,000-$8,500 range, he remains one of the best values at quarterback.
Robinson is averaging 15.9 points per game, which is ninth in the NFL, yet his FanDuel salary is only $7,200 -- good for 16th out of available receivers. That's lower than Mike Evans, Randall Cobb, Amari Cooper, and T.Y. Hilton, all of whom are having worse seasons than Robinson.
And Hurns is an even better value at just $6,800 -- which is 20th in the league -- although his 13.5 points per game ranks him as the 14th-best receiver available.
Lee's absence is a factor for this team and it may very well be that his presence will elevate the offense. But with the oft-injured receiver on the sidelines, Robinson and Hurns will continue to see the lion's share of receptions, and Bortles will only get more comfortable throwing to best wide receiver tandem (statistically) in the NFL.
