Jets will start Ryan Fitzpatrick vs. Jaguars

Jets head coach Todd Bowles has said he's starting Ryan Fitzpatrick against the Jaguars, hurt thumb and all.

The New York Jets had Ryan Fitzpatrick and Geno Smith both practicing on Wednesday, but head coach Todd Bowles said Fitzpatrick -- who suffered torn ligaments in his thumb last week against the Oakland Raiders -- will be the starter on Sunday against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

It's not like Geno had a bad game or anything last week coming in off the bench. He was 27-for-42 for 265 yards, two touchdowns, one interception, and an additional 32 rushing yards on the day. But he was erratic at times and made poor decisions during some of the most important plays of the game.

Bowles (and the Jets) have spoken -- an injured Ryan Fitzpatrick is better than a healthy Geno Smith.

So far this season, Fitzpatrick is throwing 133-for-215 for 1,518 yards, 11 touchdowns, and just seven interceptions.
