Every NFL team falls victim to untimely injuries, and the Jaguars are certainly no exception.
During Friday afternoon's team walkthrough, though, something unfamiliar stood out to Jaguars head coach Gus Bradley.
"It's the first time I've looked out on the practice field away from our field and there was no one out there," Bradley stated at his press conference today, referring to the spot where injured players usually run side-drills. "That's a good feeling, to see guys get reps and the number of receivers that we have, running backs and safeties and all of those things. It's a good sign."
The Jaguars are getting healthier, and this point was decorated in Friday's injury report. Only two players -- WR Marqise Lee and FS James Sample -- were limited in team activities today.
Guard Zane Beadles and rookie safety James Sample are the only players listed as questionable for Sunday's game in New York, while Lee remains doubtful.
Rookie wide receiver Rashad Greene will be a mandatory scratch in New York after coming off of short-term injured reserve. Greene is, however, fully recovered from his early season thumb injury.
Gus was impressed with Greene's ability to bounce back quickly.
"You see his quickness, you see all of the thing that he showed prior to his injury, you see that quickness so he looks very good. Very good."
Bradley, understandably, is satisfied with the team's current injury situation.
"Like I said, we kind of anticipated that this day would come when we would get healthy. There's no for-sures in the NFL, there's always injuries that take place, but to be in this position is good."
Bradley also went into detail on Lee's and Beadles' ongoing ailments.
"Marqise got some reps and then he got some service team reps and I think we're kind of guiding him into that frame," Bradley said. "We'll see what takes place the next couple of days but that was kind of our idea, to progress him through this week like that."
Beadles received a full amount of reps today despite seeing limited action in the early part of the week due to a foot injury.
"I think we had him go full today even though it was a walk-through," Bradley mentioned at the podium. "The big thing would be how did he come out of it today with the number of reps he got."
While the ongoing argument about in-house injury management continues to circulate, one positive has surfaced -- the Jaguars are getting healthy, and they're getting healthy at the right time. An entire half-season of play has certainly done more taking than giving for a 2-5 Jaguars team, but the bye-week has been advantageous to a group that definitely needed it.
A healthier Jaguars team does not necessarily point the arrow towards a week nine victory. A healthier Jaguars team does, however, set the foundation for a resilient run in the second half of the season.
