Former Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Justin Blackmon was arrested for another DUI in Carter County on December 19th at 4:45 a.m. local Oklahoma time. This marks the second time Blackmon has been arrested since his indefinite suspension from the NFL for violating the league’s substance abuse policy back during the 2012 NFL season.
Most Jaguars fans have moved on from Blackmon, made a lot easier by the emergence of wide receivers Allen Robinson and Allen Hurns, but there was still a small portion of fans holding out hope that he would be back at some point and be another weapon, but this latest issue off the field should be the final nail in that coffin.
It’s a bit of a sad story for Blackmon, who clearly has struggled with substance abuse during his time in and out of the NFL, being cited for a DUI while in college that was later dropped to a misdemeanor and being suspended in the NFL. Blackmon attended rehab on his own accord during the 2014 NFL season and at one point was rumored to be on his way back to the NFL, but I think at this point it’s safe to say his NFL career is over.
Blackmon played in 20 games for the Jaguars with 93 receptions, 1,280 yards and six touchdowns. He was selected with the No. 5 overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft.
