The Jacksonville Jaguars are hiring former New York Jets general manager John Idzik to their staff, according to a report from ESPN's Mike DiRocco.
According to DiRocco, Idzik will work with the team's salary cap management department, and not with player development.
Idzik was the Jets' general manager for 2013 and 2014, through which the team earned just a 12-20 record. The team went on the decline during his reign, finishing 8-8 in his first season and falling to 4-12 last year. His franchise quarterback, Geno Smith, has yet to establish himself as a legitimate starting quarterback in the league and overestimated an average offensive. Prior to his time with the Jets he was a renowned cap guy for the Seahawks and Buccaneers.
He was fired on December 29th, 2014 alongside now Buffalo Bills head coach Rex Ryan.
