The Jacksonville Jaguars so far have had an impressive haul of NFL free agent signings. The team has landed at least six new players so far, including Jared Odrick, Jermey Parnell, Julius Thomas, Davon House, Dan Skuta and Sergio Brown. Not all of those were the Jaguars primary targets, however.
Dave Caldwell: Jags had 5 main targets in FA...Julius Thomas, Parnell, Odrick, McCourty and Cobb. Thought they had best offer 4 McCourty.— Mike Dempsey (@md_1010xl) March 11, 2015
Dave Caldwell said Jags used the money they offered McCourty 2 sign Skuta, House & Brown. If McCourty had signed, would not have the other 3— Mike Dempsey (@md_1010xl) March 11, 2015
This means that the Jaguars were heavily in the running for both wide receiver Randall Cobb and safety Devin McCourty. There was some belief they may not have been in on it, but it sounds like the Jaguars landed at least three of their top five targets in free agency.
Caldwell also updated the situation with running back Demarco Murray and noted that "not a lot brewing" on that, but their work in free agency is not done yet.
