Jaguars vs. Panthers season opener: Carolina starts as 4-point favorites

The season opener is a little less than five months away, but that doesn't mean you can't put some money on the Jaguars to cover the spread.

The Jacksonville Jaguars are opening the season by hosting the Carolina Panthers, and oddsmakers don't think the home team will win in Week 1.

But they do think it'll be a pretty close game.

According to Westgate Las Vegas, the Panthers currently have just a 4-point edge over the Jaguars, and depending on next week's NFL Draft, training camp, and preseason performances, that could fluctuate.

For the Jaguars to only be 4-point underdogs, even at home, is something of an achievement when it comes to national perception. After all, they've won just seven games over the past two years whereas the Panthers have won 19 and clinched the NFC South both of those seasons.
