Now that the 2015 NFL Draft is less than a day away, the rumors are starting to heat up, even ones involving the Jacksonville Jaguars. One of the things you're starting to see more and more of are people linking the Jaguars to both Alabama wide receiver Amari Cooper and Georgia running back Todd Gurley.
Both, to me, seem like they'd be misuse of assets with the No. 3 overall pick, but again... that's just my opinion. I have a tough time envisioning Dave Caldwell using the No. 3 overall pick on a running back who's 4-5 months removed from ACL surgery and I still don't think Cooper at 3 is going to have the instant impact a lot of fans want to make it out to be. Not only that, but for the most part running backs picked in the top 15 over the past 8-9 years or so haven't really panned out well, outside of Adrian Peterson. Even then, the Vikings only have three winning seasons during Peterson's career, and that wasn't until Brett Favre was brought on board.
Cooper could be an instant success and I think he'll be a good NFL player in the long run, but history is against him as far as instant impact.
The more interesting rumors to start cropping out however are that of the Jaguars wanting to get out of the No. 3 pick and move down. It seems this rumor crops up almost every year, but this is the only year I've felt it had some legitimacy with Caldwell.
Tony Pauline of DraftInsider.net notes that the Jaguars would seem to want to move their pick, but the big question is how far are they willing to fall? There's been some talk that the Atlanta Falcons might want to move up for Dante Fowler Jr., so to slide to the No. 8 overall pick it might take something like a 2015 3rd and 5th rounder. There's also been some rumblings that the New York Jets and New Orleans Saints could want to move up in the draft.
