A lot of the Jacksonville Jaguars starting positions are seemingly locked in, but there are a handful of spots that still have a player waiting to battle out for the starting job. One of those position battles that will be really fun to watch in training camp is on the interior of the offensive line.
Realistically, the Jaguars have four or five players competing for two starting spots on the interior at the center and guard position.
At the center spot, you've got veteran Stefan Wisniewski looking to prove he's over his shoulder injury he played with last season and second-year player Luke Bowanko is looking to build off his promising rookie campaign. It's a win-win for the Jaguars here, because either way you've got a good back up.
At the left guard spot is where it gets really interesting. Realistically the Jaguars have incumbent starter Zane Beadles, third-round pick A.J. Cann and Austin Pasztor who all could win the starting job. Beadles had a disappointing season after signing a big free agent contract, and while he wasn't necessarily bad, it's clear the Jaguars didn't get what they thought they were getting. Cann, the team's third-round pick in the 2015 NFL Drat, was expected to go much higher than he did and could certainly win the job. Then there's Pasztor, lurking, who when healthy has been a solid player on the offensive line. He has experience at guard and tackle, but brings some nastiness that the line seemed to lack last year.
There are some other battles to watch, such as the depth at linebacker and the safety position, but I think the LG/C battle is the most interesting.
Which position battle are you looking forward to the most?
