There weren't a lot of high hopes for the Jacksonville Jaguars last year going into Week 1 against the Philadelphia Eagles. We were on the road, Chad Henne was under center, and Toby Gerhart hadn't shown himself to be the bell-cow back head coach Gus Bradley had described him to be earlier in the summer.
In the first half, the offense got going right away proving us wrong with mid-range and deep passes over the middle from Chad Henne to Allen Hurns and Marqise Lee. Would the defense be able to match the offense's tempo?
Not only did they match it, they exceeded it.
The second half was a completely different story, with the offense showing itself to be more impotent than the U.S. Department of Commerce and the defense imploding upon itself.
But at least the defensive line gave us a first half that set a franchise record with five sacks. Watch them all below.
Does the defensive line's performance in the first half of Week 1 deserve to be in the Top 25 for 2014? Let us know in the comments below!
